Closing Chapter

Yeah, it's been about 2 months since we move in. In-between, there are some additions to the new place but I think it should be coming to a close. We have already done possibly all the customisations that could be done, mostly from Ikea ...

Tried to sort of create a mini walk-in area to the mbr and also add more space for clothes ...

Company Dinner

Today's my company dinner at Thai Village Sharksfins, Goodwood Park Hotel. The sharksfins is fantastic. There's the traditional "Lo Hei", follow by the rest of the dishes. Look at these gluttons from my table! Hahaha :)

Curtains secured!

We just sealed the deal for our curtains at Ang Mo Kio yesterday. Price is abt 1.6K for the whole flat. Think it's reasonable but if you ask me, we are really layman when it comes to cloth material, colour, design, etc. We chose a rather safe colour for the curtains. Measurements will proceed on 8-Feb, installation on 22nd Feb ... hmm, that leaves the study tables now ...

Chinese New Year

It's Chinese New Year again! Our new place was quite untidy with boxes, etc but I managed to clean it up a bit. Finally, most things are in, except for study tables and curtains. And the espresso maker.

Back to work

I'm finally back to work since taking leave on 12-Dec-2005 ... been more than a month and I still have about 8 days left ... gotta to cut short my leave, company calls.

The hse ... I think it's a mess. I move some of my old furniture in ... well, does look quite odd, doesn't seems to fit in ... but what the heck, wait till my coffers fill up again ... hehe.

More stuff in ... slowly

Move the TV in the day earlier. It an old unit in my present home. The TV fell out of the trolley when I was pulling it out of the lift. I quickly stuck out my foot and it managed to cushion the impact of the fall. Fortunately, the TV was ok and my foot suffered only minor bruises.


We have also start to move some of my things, like books, over. We also went Ikea to buy chairs, containers, etc.


We bought this whistling kettle at Seiyu. Think it's a steal as it only cost $13.41.

PLC downlight spoilt

Less than a month??? One of my PLC square dowlinghts is spoilt and it's not the bulb. And one of the dining light halogen bulbs is down ... the fourth in less than 1 month ... again. Hmm ... lesson learnt ... next time to buy some more common lights.

Washer is in but expresso maker ...

Sucks man, yesterday Mayer delivered a kitchen mixer instead of the expresso maker ... do this only happen to us? First dining chairs were wrong, now this ... sigh ...

Furniture is IN

Well, nothing too major happened ... just the dining chairs were wrong (I ordered chairs with no cushions) and the platform bed cannot fit. In the end, the foreman agree to bring back the side tables to amend.

Flat in our hands

We finally took over the flat yesterday, the last day of 2005!

Overall it's quite smooth. We went in the morning to do a check of all the rectifications, then went to the ID office to make the final payment. Meanwhile, our ladder's missing. They took it away, assuming it's theirs!

The ID is half an hour late! She doen't want payment? Anyway, there will be a survey sent to us later next week? Hmm ... I wonder who will be reading the survey and whether the survey matters to anyone?

I went back in the afternoon to take back the ladder and mop the place ... that still took one hour plus ... and still not very clean after that ...

Fault rectification day

Today my ID supposed to rectify all faults. My toilet screws are rusty ... so fast?
My built-in wardrobe was chipped ...
My toilet seat can't stay up ... it's those non-bang system, so now got to change to conventional one.

And I scolded my ID, shouted at her ... why? Because she don't want to help at all. My shoe cabinet doors keeps knocking on the false ceiling when opened so I wanted to cut short the doors ... but she can't be bothered. After I scold her, she threaten to walk off ...

Fortunately, my mum and aunts were ther as well ... after reasoning with her, she finally agreed. But she got the cheek to say that we are the ones that agreed on the design and that our attitude were bad ... looks who's talking ... she always gave us the "can't be bothered" look and don't bother to explain things to us ...

The last straw was when she says we did not appreciate the extra things she did for us. Right ... I'll appreciate if she can deliver the things, keep to the design, inform us of changes, take off that sulky face ...

In the end, we were there from 2 - 8 p.m. And the painter still has not arrive yet ...

Solid surface and mirror done

Solid surface finally in ... and the mirror feature wall as well.

Wardrobe shortened, aircon and shelving relocated

Today the wardrobe was dismantled and shortened ... big damage ... ID says will help me mend ...

Can still see the mark of the previous edge left by the wardrobe.


And the shelving in the living has been brought down 8 inches. Damage again to the wall, wonder how the good plastering will cover up ...

Shopping at Mayer

We bought our cooker hood and hob, oven and washing machine and fridge here. However, due to height limitation, we had to changed the fridge to an Expresso maker. Mayer don't offer refunds.
